Looking for ways to keep your club members engaged?
With limits on the numbers of people at gatherings getting together with like minded bird people is challenging at best. The Leather Elves have the solution…
Host a Virtual Boredom Buster Box Party!
In an effort to keep bird owners engaged and thinking about ways to enrich their feathered companions during the pandemic, the Leather Elves developed The Boredom Buster Box. Each box contains parts and assorted items to create at least 4 enrichment opportunities. People who have purchased boxes have reported that they have built between 7 and 10 toys. It all depends on your level of creativity! We also realize that clubs and other avian organizations have been unable to meet and in many cases are suffering financial setbacks due to the inability to meet and raise funds in the usual ways. After brainstorming a way to help with these issues The Leather Elves have created The Virtual Boredom Buster Box Party.
Club members order boxes online from the Leather Elves site by a set “order by” date with a 5% off code furnished to members.
Boxes are made and shipped to members
Once the boxes ship a date is set with club officers for a Zoom meeting and a code is sent to all interested members.
On the chosen date members will sign in and as a group along with Robin Shewokis Sullivan, enrichment specialist, open boxes and discuss contents. No two boxes are exactly alike. Items will be discussed as to why they were included and then the group will share ideas for how to use the pieces. We will also have Q&A time for members to ask enrichment/behavior questions. This is a great opportunity to get people sharing ideas and experiences. The virtual party will last 1-1.5 hours as people tend to get antsy online any longer than that.
So, what’s in it for the club?????????
Keep your members engaged
No speaker or travel fees
$5.00 per box sold for the event goes back to the club!!!!! The more people that participate the more money for the club!
Club members will receive a code at the end of the party for 15% off a future order from The Leather Elves good for one month from the party date.

We've been having a blast with our Virtual Boredom Buster Box Parties! So many great ideas from club members and wonderful discussion of enrichment and behavior strategies. Here are a few comments following a recent party...
“Wonderfully engaging and fun, you forget you’re talking to the computer, and it feels like you’re with friends again! Robin doesn’t just have you make toys; she explains the purpose behind the toys and guides you through a variety of types. Thank you, Robin!” – Chanel Mullins, president of the Parrot Society of the Palm Beaches
“That was fun…everybody that was there looked really into it…I really like the fact that people who can’t attend our meetings were able to do something with the club.” – Lynda
“My bird played with the rope toy immediately. This was great fun.” – Joyce
“The meetings are always so fun and so informative. It’s so nice to get around people that have parrots because most people don’t understand what it’s like and you don’t find many people that have birds, so it’s been really nice to be around people that do, even if it’s over zoom.” – Deena
“Please give Robin my thanks. It was a great meeting, and I learned some new things about toys. Thank you for organizing!” – Alex
“That was great! I don’t have any friends with birds, so I really needed this.” – Bianca
